The fourth international conference of the Sociedad Iberoamericana de Gráfica Digital" (SIGraDi) was hosted by PROURB - Graduate Program of Urban Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro) with the support of the Arts & Design Department, Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro) and IPPUR - Institute of Research and Urban and Regional Planning, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
SIGraDi is the Latin-American association of computer graphics in architecture, design and urbanism and a sister organization to ACADIA, eCADDe, and CAADRIA. SIGraDi differentiates by the important participation of other disciplines like urban planning, visual arts, industrial design, visual communication, textile design, multimedia and engineer.
The principal objectives of the SIGraDi conference is to exchange experiences, to discuss developments in the discipline of computer graphics, and to create theoretical frameworks among groups that work in the educational, research and professional areas related to digital technologies.
The Congress took place in the two most important Brazilian Modern buildings designed in the 30's: the Brazilian Press Association - ABI Building (designed by a famous Brazilian office, The Roberto Brothers) and the Ministry of Education Building (designed by Lucio Costa, Niemeyer, Reidy, Moreira, Leão, Vasconcellos and Le Corbusier). Both buildings are located in Downtown Rio.
