A performative system is an open system, which like an instrument, is played or manipulated by a trained person, a performer. In contrast to an interactive system it can propose complex interactions and interfaces since it doesn't depend on a direct manipulation by a user (or an audience) but by an intermediary (a mediator), mirroring as such the codes and the condition of the stage, the 'representation'.
