Michiel Helbig (Antwerp_ B) ___ architect, multimedia artist
While studying architecture, Michiel Helbig got intrigued by the possibilities offered by the digital medium. After his architecture studies, he left for Barcelona to follow a Master degree in 'Artes Digitales'. His intention was to place architecture in a larger frame, yet soon he realised that concrete building was not his first priority; in a way the 'larger frame' became more important than the architecture. His interests shifted to mainly interactivity and digital sounds and images. Although he is not concentrating on architecture's practice, an architectural way of thinking is still sensible in his approach and development of interactive and audiovisual projects.
