binary waves, cybernetic urban installation
"Therefore, the first group of projects is 'generative': they interact with us and their surrounding automatically, following certain algorithms. Like Binary Waves project by Belgian group LAb[au]. They installed three dozens of panels in Saint-Denis near Paris, in September 2008 ????, where they stood for a month. The panels rotated and flashed the lights due to nature and direction of commuting processes nearby - trains, buses, cars, people moving by. Co-ordinated rotation and lightning was managed by microchips, receiving information from infrared sensors placed on the street."
