weather.tower, permanent illumination Brussels Dexia Tower

14.07.2010

A Belgian design team has turned one of Brussels' skyscrapers into a giant weather forecast display. The Weather Tower by Lab-au is the transformation of the Dexia Tower into more than just a work of architecture, but a functional tool for the people of Brussels. The tower has been fit with 72,000 LED lights across 6,000 windows, controlled by a system that changes their color and pattern to describe the weather of the coming day. While we imagine this installation inspires love-it or hate-it responses from Brussels' citizens, it is a concept that should be further explored and executed in greater numbers. Nice work, Lab-au!
