Center for International Light Art

he Center for International Light Art in Unna has a presentation area of 2,500 square meters. Its unique feature is the character of the rooms in which major works of light art are shown. Venue of the light artwork installations are the cooling and storage rooms of the old Linden Brewery, located 10 meters below the ground. The brewery dominated the economic life of the city since the days of the Hanseatic League. Traces of this history full of intensive utilization, which came to an end in 1979, can be found on the walls of the building which have been consciously preserved, just like the technical fittings and old supply systems.

Most of these rooms, which form a highly effective setting for the works of art, are occupied by the museum's permanent collection. In the historic center of the basement complex arched roofed halls are reserved for temporary exhibitions that are held about twice a year, and that charge the permanent collection with new impulses.
